If-Clause

การใช้ If มีหลายรูปแบบ อยากจะลองเสนอวิธีการจดจำแบบใหม่ จากรูปแบบ ข้างล่างนี้

If + past tense, …would+V1

ใช้กับเหตุการณ์ที่ไม่เป็นความจริง (เป็นไปไม่ได้) ในปัจจุบัน หรือ ในอนาคต

e.g.

She would be safer if she had a car. –> เธอจะปลอดภัยกว่านี้ถ้าเธอมีรถขับ

(ตรงข้ามความจริงในปัจจุบัน ตอนที่พูดบอกว่าผู้หญิงคนนี้ยังไม่มีรถ)

If I were you, I would go with her. –> ถ้าฉันเป็นคุณ ฉันน่าจะไปกับเธอ

(ตรงข้ามความจริงในปัจจุบัน พูดย้อนถึงอดีต)

If I were a painter,

You would be my painting…

If I were an author,

You would be my story.

การใช้ Greater than/More than (มากกว่า)

Greater than มักจะใช้กับเปรียบเทียบ ตัวเลข สนใจที่ตัวเลขมากกว่า คำนาม

e.g.

…greater than 100.
Value x is 3 times greater than Value 5

More than มักจะใช้กับ จำนวนของคำนามที่กล่าวถึง สนใจที่คำนามมากกว่า ตัวเลข
e.g.

…More than 100 fish
There are more than 10 fishes in this aquarium
I have more apples than bananas
I love you more than I love anything else
